Despite inroads by jackets and gravity-base foundations, monopiles will remain the foundation of choice for offshore wind turbines for the foreseeable future, according to a new report.

In Offshore Wind Foundations: a European Overview, Renewables Consulting Group (RCG) said that, by 2022, it expects the fully commissioned offshore wind fleet in Europe to approach 6,000 foundations, and that the greatest number of these will be monopiles rather than jackets or gravity-base foundations.,evolving-monopiles-will-remain-foundation-of-choice-in-medium-term_49216.htm
